WBB Finishes Regular Season at Santa Clara

The Zags are seeking its 20th WCC Regular Season Title

THE TIPOFF

- The Gonzaga women's basketball team closes out the regular season this Saturday, March 1, at Santa Clara.
- With a win, GU would clinch its 20th Regular Season West Coast Conference Title. It would also be Gonzaga's third-straight title and Lisa Fortier's ninth. 
- Yvonne Ejim made history in the second quarter on Feb. 6. as she eclipsed 2,166 points to become the new scoring leader in Gonzaga women's basketball history. She broke Heather Bowman's record of 2,156 points scored from 2006-10.  
- Ejim has recorded 36 double doubles in her career and 11 this year alone. She has scored double digits in 72-straight games with her last single digit scoring effort back on Feb. 16, 2023. She also ranks seventh in the nation in scoring with 634 points this season. 
- On Jan. 30, Ejim became the first WCC women's basketball player to eclipse 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. 
- Ejim was recently named an USBWA's National Player of the Week. She was also named to the midseason Wooden Award, Katrina McClain Power Forwar of the Year, Naismith National Player of the Year, Ann Dreysdale Player of the Year, College All-Star Game, and Becky Hammon Player of the Year watch lists.
- Allie Turner has made a huge impact as a freshman already this season. She ranks first in the nation in three-pointers made (86) among freshmen and is averaging 13 points per game. Overall, she eighth in the country and first in the WCC in made three-pointers. 
- The Bulldogs went undefeated in the month of January and went on a 14-game winning streak.
- Bree Salenbien has made her return to the court for the first time since a knee injury sustained last February. She had her first career double double against WSU with 14 points and 10 rebounds. 
- On Jan. 18, Ejim broke the all-time rebounding record at Gonzaga. She now holds the record at Gonzaga for most rebounds, most points and most made field goals in a career. 
- Turner's 86 made threes is the most made for a freshman in GU history and is currently sixth for made threes in a single season at Gonzaga. She needs 10 to tie Brynna Maxwell's record of 96 in a single season (2023-24). She is also the first true freshman to score 20+ points in multiple games since Heather Bowman.
- Ejim ranks fourth in the nation in field goals made this season with 242. 
- Ejim leads the Zags with 21.1 points a game, which ranks 13th in the country and first in the WCC. She also grabs an average of 8.8 rebounds a game this season to rank first in the conference and on the team. 
- Gonzaga is shooting at 36.7% from beyond the arc to rank 16th nationally and first in the WCC.  
- As a team, GU has a rebound margin of +10.6 to rank fifth in the country and number one in the conference. Overall, they have an average of 40 rebounds a game.
- Head coach Lisa Fortier currently sits at 286-72 in her career. Among active Division I coaches, she is seventh in winning percentage at 79.9%. 
- Fortier is now in third place on the WCC career coaching wins list. She is one win away from second of all-time.

SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
- Santa Clara is scoring 62.6 ppg this season on 40.3-percent shooting from the field and 29.1-percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos are dishing out 13.7 apg as well.
-Defensively, they allow 64.3 ppg and are holding opponents to 38.1-percent from the floor and 25.9-percent from deep, 10th in the country. They force 12.2 tpg while collecting 5.2 spg and 3.2 bpg.
- Olivia Pollerd leads the team with 16.8 ppg on 42.0-percent shooting and leads the team with 52 3-pointers made. She also leads the way with 49 blocks and 6.5 rpg. Malia Latu scores 10.6 ppg with Kaya Ingram adding 9.2 ppg. Maddie Naro's 3.5 apg are tops on the team and she adds 7.5 ppg.
