McKenzie Brewer named to AVCA 30 under 30

LEXINGTON, Kentucky- Gonzaga Volleyball Assistant Coach McKenzie Brewer was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) 30 under 30 list on Wednesday.

The 30 Under 30 program is designed to highlight the top up-and-coming coaches in volleyball across the college, club and high school levels. McKenzie Brewer has established herself as one of the top young assistant coaches in the nation and has been a major part of the success for Gonzaga Volleyball in the 2025 season.

Prior to arriving at Gonzaga, she helped coach the WAC Player of the Year, WAC Setter of the Year, and WAC Co-Freshman of the year while at UT Arlington in 2024. Last season she helped coach Gonzaga to a 13 win improvement in her first year in Spokane.

Off the court, Brewer also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Zags, a role she uses to "recruit top athletes who embody our culture, that love to learn, and want push our program forward".  Brewer has gone both near and far to find future Zags that embody these characteristics, signing new recruits from California, Canada, Colorado, Denmark, Montana, Texas and Washington during just the 2025-2026 season.

"I chose to coach volleyball because this sport has shaped my life in ways I could have never imagined. From the first time I stepped out on the court it became so much more than a game. It became a source of confidence, community and purpose. Volleyball has been a true gift." Brewer said about her time playing and coaching volleyball.

She added that her favorite aspect of coaching is the community it creates, saying that the sport "has introduced me to incredible people - teammates, mentors and fellow coaches who have challenged me, supported me, and inspired the path I am on today. Coaching gives me the chance to pass that gift forward, to help young athletes discover their own strength, and create the same kind of meaningful connections that shaped my journey."
