Zags drop series finale at Pacific 7-4

STOCKTON, Calif.- Gonzaga Baseball (12-13) was unable to complete the series sweep of Pacific (10-17) on Sunday, dropping the final game of the series 7-4.

A late seventh inning rally allowed Pacific to take the game, with the Tigers scoring four runs on clutch hitting with two outs.

Pacific scored the first run of the game in the first inning on back to back hits. The Zags evened the game in the third frame, but they only scored one run despite having the bases loaded with no outs after hitting into a double play and flying out. Gonzaga left 10 runners on base today.

Solo home runs in back to back innings gave Pacific the lead again after the fourth and fifth innings. Gonzaga got another lead change the next inning, taking advantage of a two run double from Noah Meffert to even the score. Ryder Young then drove in Meffert with a single. Young now has an RBI in 10 straight games.

Pacific had five hits in the seventh to retake the lead. The Zags were blanked by Pacific reliever Regan Carter, who tossed 3.1 scoreless innings to pick up the win.

Gonzaga Baseball will return to the field in Spokane at 1pm on Monday when they host Nevada at Patterson Baseball Complex and Steve Hertz Field.
