UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's golf finished fifth at the SeattleU Redhawk Invitational Tuesday. The Zags were even-par (864) in the 54-hole event at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
Guillermo Polo Bodart led GU, placing 18
th at one-under (215). He opened the tournament carding a 70 (-2) in Round 1, before an even-par (72) second round, and a 73 (+1) in the final round. His third round featured 12 pars and two birdies. The senior's 36 pars matched the most in the 83-golfer field.
Michael Vinneau finished 23
rd at one-over (217). The Texas native was one-over (73) in the first and third rounds, with a 71 (-1) in Round 2. He made 32 pars and was one-under (2.90) on the course's Par-3 holes.
Ethan Flynn and
Jayden Lizama both were three-over (219) in a tie for 32
nd. Flynn also made 36 pars in the event, including 10 in his second-round total of 70 (-2). He eagled the Par-5 first hole in Round 3. Lizama started the event with a 71 (-1) in Round 1.
Charlie Olson (226, +10) placed 54
th and
Daniel Kim (230, +14) was 60
th as an individual.
As a team, the Bulldogs made 154 pars, which were the second-most in the tournament. Gonzaga was also second finishing even-par (3.00) on Par-3 holes, and fourth at 10-under (4.79) on Par-5 holes.
Abilene Christian took the team title at 13-under (851), while Idaho was second with an 855 (-9) team total. Utah Tech's David Liechty earned medalist honors at 16-under (200). Grant Feldman of Creighton was second at eight-under (-8).
