SPOKANE, Wash- Gonzaga Track continue to improve at the Jeff Rahn Classic, with 20 new personal bests being logged by the Zags at Whitworth on Friday.
Greta Dani set a new program record in the 200 meters, running a time of 24.83. Dani is the first Gonzaga runner to break 25 seconds in the event. She also ran a personal best time of 12.55 in the 100 meters.
Ashlinn Aguayo ran the second fastest time in the 400 meters in program history, finishing in 57.16 seconds. Aguayo also set a new personal best time in the 200 meters with 26.53 seconds.
Hayden Roberts and
Charlie Goss each moved into the top ten times in program history in the 800 meters, with Roberts running the 3rd fastest time (1:51.02) and Goss running the 8th fastest time in GU history (1:51.92). Maria Taggi Padro also moved into the program record book, running the 6th fastest time in program history in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a 10:52.31 finish.
Five Zag women set personal best times in the 800 meters, with
Anna Lanigan finishing the race in 2:15.18 and
Ava Sutherland finishing just .02 seconds behind her teammate. Emma Taggi Padro ran a time of 2:17.50, while
Tawny Smith finished in 2:17.84 and Rose Penny had a time of 2:23.03.
Seven Zags set new personal bests in the 1500 meters as well, with
Ryan Mitchell and
Mason Kissell running times of 3:48.26 and 3:48.66 respectively.
Caden Swanson ran 3:49.29, while
Paul Talens finished in 3:50.29.
Gus Clevenger (3:51.12),
Will Thorsett (3:51.21) and
Sawyer Clarkson (4:04.95) rounded out the other personal bests in the event.
Ava Knap also set a personal best time in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:02.30, while
Sophia Ferraro set a new career best in the 5k with a 18:10.58 finish.
Gonzaga will be competing across the west coast next weekend, as some local Zags run at the Whitworth Twilight, while some representatives will make the trek to Azusa Pacific University for the Bryan Clay Invitational
