SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's rowing heads to the East Coast this weekend for the historic Dad Vail Regatta, where a unique race format will set the stage for a competitive two days on the Cooper River. Gonzaga enters the race ranked at #24 in the country.
Heats will be conducted as time trials, with crews launching one at a time. Due to the staging required for single-file racing, the course distance for the time trials will be 1,900 meters. Friday morning's time trials will seed boats into Friday afternoon semifinals, with finals set for Saturday.
"We've been preparing all season for Dad Vails and are excited to put ourselves to the test. The race will have a different feel with a time-trial format for the heats. We're looking forward to the challenge and an exciting weekend of racing!" assistant coach Kayla Cartelli said.
