Gonzaga men's rowing capped its weekend at the Dad Vail Regatta with a pair of Grand Final appearances and celebrated the Varsity 8 bringing home the Western Sprints Trophy.
The Bulldogs opened Saturday racing with the 2nd Varsity 8+, lining up in a competitive Grand Final. Gonzaga crossed in 6:10.890 to place sixth after a strong push through the final 500 meters.
The Varsity 8+ followed with another hard-fought performance, also finishing sixth in its Grand Final with a time of 5:52.320. The performance gave them the Western Sprints trophy as they finished ahead of Santa Clara and San Diego overall.
"It was great being a part of the Dad Vails," assistant coach Kayla Cartelli said. "The competition was tough and the guys all raced hard. We are excited to bring home the varsity Western Sprints trophy!"
