Gonzaga gets goals from three different scorers
OMAHA, Neb. – Gonzaga women's soccer used goals from three different scorers to pick up a 3-0 road win at Creighton Sunday.
In the second all-time meeting between the programs, the Zags (3-4-1) earned their first shutout of the season. GU also snapped the Bluejays' (3-3-1) four game unbeaten streak that included wins in the last three matches. Creighton entered Sunday's match on a streak of 407 minutes without allowing a goal.
The Bulldogs' Samantha Snorsky opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a strike to the far post. Her six goals are currently tied for second in the Pac-12 Conference.
Sydney Head made a pair of impressive saves before halftime to keep the clean slate. She finished with two saves, while Creighton's Morgan Paley and Kailey Hall did not record a save.
Shila Rasoul scored her first goal of the season in the 52nd minute, heading in a cross from Olivia Lester. Rasoul's sixth career goal came off Lester's fourth career assist.
In the 84th minute, Sophia Schlicklin raced down the left side of the field and sent a cross into the box that Brooke Metcalfe struck past the Bluejays' keeper. It was Metcalfe's first goal of the year.
The Bulldogs outshot Creighton, 10-7, limiting the hosts to two shots in the second half. GU also had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Gonzaga welcomes Utah Valley (3-3-1) to Luger Field Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on YouTube, with live stats available on GoZags.com.
