Men's Tennis Edged By Idaho, 3-2

SPOKANE, Wash. - Bryce Cooper and Robert Penney each won a singles match for the Gonzaga University's men's tennis team, but were edged by University of Idaho, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon. The match location was changed to North Park Racquet and Athletic Club and played to only five points as a result of the indoor format. The Bulldogs dropped to 4-12 on the season with the loss.
Only one doubles match was played as Idaho came out strong as Seth Banks and Fabian Dummett defeated Gonzaga's Dru Ernst and Jesse Goldsmith, 8-5, for the doubles point.
Cooper forced his match against Brad Lum-Tucker to three sets, each with a tiebreaker series, resulting in a Gonzaga point after a 6-7 (7-3), 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (9-7) battle. Penney defeated Vandal James Cromwell in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) for the second Bulldog point.
Reid Arthur took his match to a tiebreaker set, but was topped by Idaho's Hector Mucharraz, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Brett Womack was defeated by Chris Faulman (6-3, 6-4) for the Vandal victory.
The men's team next travels to University of Montana on Saturday, March 20.
