SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's tennis coach Alisha Woodroof has announced the signing of Sydney Lederhouse to play tennis for the Bulldogs in the 2004-05 academic year. Lederhouse currently attends William Aberhart High School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and will enroll in the university as a freshman.
"In my attempt to build Gonzaga women's tennis into a national contender, Sydney will definitely be a big part of our success," said Woodroof. "She will come in and make an immediate impact."
Lederhouse is currently ranked in the top five in Alberta, Canada and holds a national ranking as No. 48 in the Under-18 category. She was also nationally ranked as high as No. 39 in U-16 Singles during 2002 with a top four ranking in Alberta the same year.
"Sydney is a proven competitor with a strong all court game. Not only is she an incredible athlete and one of the best tennis players from Canada, but she is also a top student," said Woodroof.
