SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team ended the 2005 regular-season on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to the University of Idaho. The Bulldogs finish the regular-season at 8-13 and now head to the West Coast Conference Championships next weekend in San Diego, Calif. Idaho won all three doubles matches before sweeping the six singles matches.
Erin Humphrey was the closest Gonzaga player to pick up a win as she pushed Tara Fielding in No. 6 singles. Fielding won the first set 7-5 before closing out Humphrey 6-2 in the second set. Humphrey also teamed with Sydney Lederhouse at No. 3 doubles losing 8-4 to Fielding and Mariel Tinnirello posting the closest doubles score of the match.
It was the final home match for GU seniors Angela Fry and Sirrah Williams. Fry fell in No. 1 singles to Patricia Ruman, 6-4, 6-2. Williams was knocked off in No. 4 singles action 6-2, 6-2 by Kareen Konishi.
