The Gonzaga doubles team of Carrie Schofield and Aglaya Kokurina earned a victory Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Gonzaga University women's tennis team fell to the University of Idaho 6-1 in Moscow, Idaho.
With the loss, Gonzaga falls to 4-14. Idaho improves to 11-6.
Schofield and Kokurina posted the lone Bulldog victory for the day with an 8-2 win over Lauren Shrubb and Laura Leoini in the No. 3 spot of doubles. Idaho earned the doubles point with victories at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
In singles play,Aglaya Kokurina posted a singles victory at the No. 2 position with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat over Mariel Tinnirello. Kendall Bates nearly earned the Zags another point after forcing three sets at the No. 4 position against Lauren Drew. Bates dropped the first match 6-1 before staging a comeback in the second set 1-6 and eventually falling in the third match 7-5. Emily Anderson, Sydney Lederhouse, Carrie Schofield and Courtney Lau all dropped their respective singles matches in straight sets.
The Bulldogs will return to the courts Thursday, April 5 when they will travel to Cheney, Wash. to take on Eastern Washington University.
