Results

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Eastern Washington University Tuesday evening at the Spokane Racquet Club.

After the Eagles (4-4) swept the Bulldogs (2-7) in all three doubles matches, the Bulldogs started a comeback in singles play.

Sophomore Levin Guillermo won a three-set match with Fernando Mussolini at No. 1 singles. Guillermo won the first match 7-6, Mussolini won the second 6-4 to force a tiebreaker which Guillermo won 6-4 to earn his seventh singles win of the season.

Juniors Scott Sullivan and Zhia Hwa Chong were also victorious in singles play. Against Stefan Simikic at the No. 4 spot, Sullivan cruised through the first set 6-2 and won a tough second set 7-6. Chong beat Kyle Koetje 7-6, 7-5 at No. 5 singles to earn his team-leading 10th singles win of the year.

Senior Conor Feeney made his season debut at No. 3 singles against Julian Sanchez. After losing the first set 6-3, Feeney won the second set 6-4 to force a third which Sanchez won 6-4.

The Bulldogs will play their final home match of the season March 4 against Montana State University. The match starts at noon.
