GONZAGA BULLDOGS AT WASHINGTON INVITATIONAL

ABOUT THE MEET:
- The second annual meet will be ran on the Jefferson Golf Course, home of the NCAA Western Regional.
- Last year's event featured nine of the top 30 programs in the country on the men's side.
- The women's race last year had four of the top 15 schools in the nation.
- Now in its second year, this season's meet features four women's ranked teams (No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Oregon, No. 15 Washington, and No. 23 BYU).
- On the men's side, there are six teams that appear in this week's national poll (No. 2 Stanford, No. 5 Oregon, No. 11 UCLA, No. 12 BYU, No. 32 Washington, No. 33 Portland).
COURSE INFORMATION: 
- The course consists of multiple 2k loops on flat fairways crossing some cart paths.
- The course was the site of the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, the USATF Club Nationals, and the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2012.
- The 2017 NCAA West Regional will also be ran at the Jefferson Golf Course.
SECONDS PLEASE: 
- The Gonzaga women's and men's programs enjoyed back-to-back second-place finishes in the last two events.
- The Zags finished behind nationally-ranked programs Oregon and BYU in those races.
- The GU women finished only one point away from upsetting BYU at the West Coast Conference Preview.
- The Bulldog women had a trio of top-10 finishes at the WCC Preview, including Maggie Jones in second place. 
NO JONES ABOUT IT: 
- Maggie Jones' second place finish at the WCC Preview was her first cross country in two years. - Her last race was the NCAA Division I West Region Cross Country Championships in 2013.
- It was her highest finish since placing second at the 2013 Clash of the Inland Northwest.
AMONG THE BEST IN THE WEST: 
- The Gonzaga women's cross country team were No. 9 in the USTFCCCA West Region ranking Monday.
- The Zag men moved to 13th in the latest poll, after being 12th in last week's poll.
- After a successful showing at the West Coast Conference Preview/Erik Anderson Invitational, the GU women went from 10th to ninth in the ranking.
- It's the highest regional ranking the Bulldog women have been in the poll in five years.
WELCOME TO THE TOP 10: 
- A trio of Bulldogs entered their respective top 10s following their performances at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
- Jordan Thurston rose from ninth to sixth on the women's 6,000-meter list with a time of 20:55.0. Her previous PR was 21:29.0. - Julie Henling raced into the top 10 with a time of 21:21.6. Her time is the 8th-fastest in GU history. - Matthew Crichlow moved from 20th to 10th on the GU all-time 8K list with a time of 24:34.3. 
READY FOR THE SPOTLIGHT: 
- Gonzaga will help host the WCC Championships on Oct. 31, at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane Valley.
- This year's WCC Championships will be only the second time in the league's history that the event will be run outside of California. The 2012 championships were in Portland.
- Admission is free to the event for the general public.
