SPOKANE, Wash.--The Gonzaga University women's tennis team continued its successful homestand Saturday, winning its fourth match in a row with a 5-2 decision over Seattle U at The Stevens Center in Spokane.

In doubles, Sissi Koehler and Domonique Garley wasted no time in giving Gonzaga an advantage, sweeping their match on court No. 3 6-0. A couple of minutes later, Melanie Yates and Alex Bourguignon clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win of their own on court No. 2.

At No. 1 doubles, the pair of Sophie Whittle and Samantha Polayes also continued their winning ways, picking up their 17th doubles win of the year. The pair are two victories away from equaling the program's record for doubles wins in a season, which both Polayes and Koehler tied last year.

Once singles play started, Gonzaga wasted little time before clinching the match. Garley once again won the first singles match to finish, dispatching the Redhawks' Kristen James 6-1, 6-0. The big win was Garley's fourth straight and her biggest of the dual season. Garley's play spilled over to the next court up as Graciela Rosas also picked up an impressive win at No. 5 singles. Rosas won her first set against Sari Kwee 6-2 and got even stingier in the second, sweeping the frame for a 6-2, 6-0 win. It too was Rosas' fourth consecutive win and fifth victory in dual play.

Bourguignon clinched the match with another two-setter on court No. 4. The sophomore doubled up opponent Barbara Carey 6-3 in the first set and stormed out to a 4-0 lead in the second. Carey forestalled the clinch by picking up one of the next two games, but Bourguignon rebounded and finished off the match 6-3, 6-1. Like Rosas, the win was Bourguignon's fifth of the dual season.

Just after Bourguignon clinched, Nevada Apollo added on another point with another big win at No. 3 singles. The freshman topped Madison Maloney 6-1 in the first set and 6-2 in the second, also earning her fourth consecutive singles win and 14th of the season.

Seattle U salvaged wins on the final two courts to finish as Polayes fell on court No. 2 and Whittle on No. 1.

The Zags (5-1) wrap up their homestand on Sunday, Feb. 21, as a part of a doubleheader with the Gonzaga's men's team. The men will take on Portland State at 9:00 a.m. while the women square off against Inland Northwest foe Idaho at 1:00 p.m., again at The Stevens Center.
