LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Sean Walsh enters the final round of the Prestige at PGA West in a tie for 18th place. He leads the Gonzaga men's golf team, which sits in 14th on the team leaderboard after the second round Tuesday.
Following his opening round 69 (-2), Walsh carded a 73 (+2) on Day 2. He made par on 14 holes and closed his round with his lone birdie on Hole 9. The senior's 26 pars through the first 36 holes of the tournament are the second-most in the 81-golfer field.
Both Ryan Gaske and Angus Montgomery are tied for 46th. Montgomery's one-over-par (72) round was the best by a Zag on the second day. He climbed 14 spots on the leaderboard. The junior was one-under through his first nine holes Tuesday, and finished with three birdies and 11 pars. He and Gaske have 149 (+7) two-round totals. Gaske also had three birdies in Round 2 and finished five-over (76).
After making 12 pars in the first round, Will Brueckner made 12 again on Day 2. He finished with a 78 (+7) and is 11-over (153) through 36 holes, tied for 66th. Ben DuBois was 10-over (81) in the second round. He is in 80th at 22-over (164).
As a team, the Bulldogs were 15-over (299) Tuesday. GU entered the second round tied for ninth after a 294 (+11) first round. The Zags are 25-over (593) going into the final round.
Ninth-ranked Arizona State jumped three spots on the team leaderboard and leads the 15-team field after two rounds. The Sun Devils are 12-under (556) after going 15-under (269) on the second day. LSU is five strokes back in second place. There is a three-way tie for first on the individual leaderboard with a trio of golfers at eight-under (134).
The third round on the Greg Norman Course begins Wednesday morning. DuBois tees off first for the Bulldogs at 8:30 a.m.
