CANBY, Ore. -- The Gonzaga men's golf team placed 12th at the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic hosted by Oregon State University Tuesday. The Zags were led by Sean Walsh's 15th place finish.

"We didn't take advantage of the first round weather like the other teams did and scored like most other teams in the rain delayed second round, finishing up our final holes of the second round really well before starting our last round," GU Robert Gray said. "We were playing well coming down the stretch in the final round but just didn't play our final four holes very well, giving up nine shots to par and costing us three spots in the final standings. In order to be competitive in these stronger fields, we definitely have to finish much stronger."

Walsh tied for 15th at even-par (216). He started the final round tied for 19th, but climbed up the leaderboard after a one-under (71) finish. The senior made 29 pars and four birdies to just three bogeys in the second and third rounds. His 41 pars were the second-most in the 87-golfer field. The Keller, Texas native has placed in the top-20 in all eight of the tournaments he has played in this season. He has finished in the top-15 in six events.

"Sean continued his consistent play this week, despite a lot of putts that just missed going in," Gray said. "His final round of one-under was really good considering the tough pin placements."

The second round was suspended due to darkness after rain delays Monday. Round 2 finished Tuesday morning, before the third and final round.

Playing as an individual, David Ganz tied for 38th. He carded a season-low 72 (E) in Round 3. The sophomore started the last round in a tie for 55th. He made five of his nine birdies in the tournament over the final 18 holes. Ganz completed the tournament at seven-over (223).

"David also had a good week with pretty good bookend rounds of 74 and 72," Gray said. "His final three holes of his second round was the difference in that score, playing them three-over before starting his final round. He definitely learned from it, playing those same three holes even-par and his final six holes in three-under in the final round. David's game is also trending in the right direction after improving on each round at Bandon Trails last week and now posting the second lowest score of the team this week."

Tyler Munetake finished his best event of the season in a tie for 53rd. The freshman was 11-over (227) in the tournament and carded a 79 (+7) in the final round.

"Tyler started out with a great score the first round then struggled a bit in delayed, second round, Gray said. "He had a decent round going the final day, where he was even with seven holes to play. A couple of poor tee shots had a big impact on his final score. However, he's continuing to improve each week and this was his best finish among his teammates this season, so I'm excited for the direction his game is heading."

Ben DuBois and Ryan Gaske both tied for 60th at 12-over (228). Gaske was five-over (77) in Round 3, while DuBois was six-over (78). Gaske had 16 pars in the second round. Angus Montgomery rounded out the Bulldogs' finishes with a 234 (+18) total. He was six-over (78) in the third round with three birdies.

UNLV placed all five of its golfers in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard and took the team title. The No. 34 Rebels were 22-under (842) and edged out No. 30 Oregon by eight strokes.

The Ducks had the top three finishers on the individual leaderboard led by Sulman Raza's 10-under (206) medalist finish. Nigel Lett was second as an individual at six-under (210).

Gonzaga travels to Chandler, Ariz., in its next tournament, the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The two-day tournament at the Whirlwind Golf Club will have live scoring on GoZags.com.
