April 22, 2016 SPOKANE, Wash. â€" The Gonzaga men's rowing team will take on 20th-ranked Oregon State in Vancouver, Wash., on Saturday at Vancouver Lake.
The Zags will have a hefty challenge on their hands against the Beavers and will be looking to add speed as they head into the stretch run of their season.
"OSU presents us with a real challenge," head coach Dan Gehn said. "They have been quick top to bottom all year long. We need every chance we can get on the race course with our eye on Western Sprints in May. This group is still putting pieces to the puzzle together, but I feel like we are making headway."
Gonzaga will put four eight-man boats on the water on Saturday across the Varsity, Second Varsity, Third Varsity and Freshmen 8 classes. The V8 will kick off the day at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 2V8 at 9:45 a.m., 3V8 at 10 a.m. and Freshmen 8 at 10:45 a.m.
Spectators can watch the race from the Vancouver Lake Regional Park at the following address: 6801 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver, WA 98660. The 2,000-meter course is located three miles west of downtown Vancouver. Viewing is visible from Vancouver Lake Regional Park beach and has an excellent view of the finish line.
