FLASHBACK TO CHENEY:

• Gonzaga's singles play excelled to open the year as six of seven Zags went undefeated against competition from other schools...the Zags swept the EWU Fall Classic's two singles brackets as Ruadhan O'Sullivan beat Vincent Rettke for the Red Singles bracket title while Kyle Everly downed Ronzai Saurombe in three sets in the Black Singles flight...Bulldogs filled up the Black Singles bracket's semifinals as Every beat Simon Homedes Dualde to reach the final while Saurombe downed Emilio Moreno.
• In doubles play, Homedes Dualde and O'Sullivan teamed up to go 1-1 in the tournament, as did Everly and Moreno...Rettke and Saurombe were the Zags' other doubles team but did not register a victory.

BRANCHING OUT:

• This weekend marks the first time the Bulldogs have competed at the Aggie Invitational, a tournament that has been played every year since 2012.
• The trip to Davis is unusual for Gonzaga during tournament play...except for the ITA Northwest Regionals, which rotates around the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, this will be the Zags' first California-based tournament since 2006...they only have two other tournaments from the last 10 years that took place outside of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho: 2013's Baylor HEB Intercollegiate and the ITA All-American Championships hosted in Oklahoma that same year.

MAKING A BRACKET:

• Six Bulldogs will be in action this weekend...in the A Singles bracket, Ruadhan O'Sullivan is again the flight's No. 2 seed after also being seeded second at EWU...Vincent Rettke joins O'Sullivan in the top bracket...in B Singles, Samuel Feit, Emilio Moreno, and Kyle Everly are all unseeded with Feit and Everly matched up the flight's Nos. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively...Ronzai Saurombe, meanwhile, will compete in the unseeded C Singles bracket.
• In doubles play, Feit and Rettke make up the Zags' pair in the A Bracket...Everly/Saurombe and Moreno/O'Sullivan will compete in the B Doubles bracket...the two made up Gonzaga's No. 2 doubles team in dual play last spring.

PLANNING AHEAD:

• In two weeks, GU will compete in the ITA Northwest Regionals, held this year at Berkeley, Calif....at least one Zag has reached the Round of 32 at the regional championship tournament every year since 2010...two years ago, Alvaro Nazal made the deepest run in the tournament in school history, reaching the singles' semifinals, while Jordan and Hayden Smith each reached the Round of 32 last year.
• Gonzaga will once again host a fall tournament, welcoming regional squads to The Stevens Center for the Bulldog Classic...the third-year tournament will run Oct. 28-30...the Zags have shown well at home since The Stevens Center opened in 2014, going 17-14 in dual matches and winning well over 50% of all singles and doubles contests played...the Bulldogs are 120-97 in singles play (.553) at Stevens, and that percentage rises to .598 (61-41) in doubles play...Ruadhan O'Sullivan is undefeated at home, going 8-0 during the spring dual season last year.
• The Bulldogs will wrap up the fall season with Oregon's Duck Invitational Nov. 11-14 in Eugene.

ZAGS ON THE COURT THIS WEEK:
