LIGHT UP LUGER
- Gonzaga's season opener against Bradley was the first-ever soccer match under the new lights at Luger Field. The Zags played the Braves to a 1-1 draw in front of a crowd of 506. Thursday's match was also played under the lights and GU beat Oral Roberts 1-0.

LAST TIME OUT
- Gonzaga got an early-second-half goal from sub Nick Ulowetz to take down (rv) Oral Roberts on Thursday and remain unbeaten on the season. GU's unbeaten streak is now at four, dating back to a 3-2 overtime win to wrap the 2015 season at Pacific.

FAST START
- Gonzaga moved to 3-0-1 through four games with the win over Seattle U, making the Zags unbeaten through four games for the first time since 1997. Its just the third time in school history, GU has accomplished that feat - also in 1980.

DEFENSE STEPPING UP
- The Gonzaga defense has been stout in four matches this season, allowing just four goals. The Zags have also held opposing offenses to an average of just 9.0 shots/3.8 shots on goal per match this year. By comparison, GU's offense has averaged 15.8 shots/6.3 shots on goal per match.

WCC NEWS AND NOTES
- Gonzaga is the lone unbeaten team left in the West Coast Conference.
- Gonzaga leads the WCC goals (10) and assists (10), and is second in shots (15.8 per game) and goals-against average (0.95) and third in corner kicks (16).
- Individually, Jakob Granlund second in shots (12), Austin Giftopoulos is second in assists (2) and fifth in points (4), and goalkeeper Ben Willis is second in goals-against average (0.95). Willis is also one of only four keepers in the league with a shutout. Denis Kalamar and Jakob Granlund are tied for third in points with five each.

ABOUT THE SERIES
- Gonzaga will face American for the second time in program history, with the lone meeting coming as a 2-1 AU win on a neutral field. GU and George Mason will meet for the first time.

FIVE GOALS, FIVE DIFFERENT PLAYERS
- Gonzaga scored five goals in total on the opening weekend in two matches, and those five were scored by five different players. Forward Jakob Granlund scored the lone goal Friday, and then defenders Jalen Crisler, Ben White and Austin Giftopoulos, and forward Denis Kalamar, netted GU's four on Sunday.

SEASON-OPENING HOME TOURNAMENT
- Gonzaga won its own four-team tournament with visiting Bradley, Illinois-Chicago and San Diego State. Each team played two games, with GU facing BU and UIC. Gonzaga tied Bradley on Friday 1-1, then beat UIC on Sunday 4-1 giving them a goal differential of +3. San Diego State was also 1-0-1 on the weekend, tying UIC 1-1 on Friday and beating Bradley 1-0 on Saturday for a +1 goal differential.

CAVEY, GIFTOPOULOS SWEEP FIRST TWO WCC AWARDS
- Junior midfielder Colton Cavey won the second week's WCC Player of the Week award following in teammate Austin Giftopoulos' footsteps from a week prior. Cavey scored two goals and added an assist in weekend victories over No. 16 Seattle and an Oral Roberts team receiving votes in the latest NSCAA rankings. Against the Redhawks, Cavey hit the game-winner to break a 2-2 tie in the 71st minute after 16th-ranked Seattle came back from a 0-2 deficit to tie the game. He also assisted on Gonzaga's first goal of the game, sending a long ball ahead to teammate Denis Kalamar, who found Graison Le for the goal. In Friday's win against Oral Roberts, the midfielder played a crucial role in preserving the 1-0 win with his play on the pitch.
- Redshirt sophomore defender Austin Giftopoulos was named the WCC Player of the Week after playing all 200 minutes and notching a goal and an assist in Gonzaga's 1-0-1 weekend. He helped the defense hold both Bradley and UIC to one goal apiece. Against Bradley, he played all 200 minutes of an overtime draw, and then was instrumental on both ends of the field while playing all 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over UIC. He scored his first career goal and notched his first career assist against the Flames. It was the first WCC Player of the Week honor of the season, and also was Giftopoulos' first-career weekly award.
