April 11, 2017 Silverado Showdown Final Resul
NAPA, Calif. - Bianca Pagdanganan nabbed her fourth top-10 finish of the year after a wild final round at the Silverado Showdown at the North Course at the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif on Tuesday.
The sophomore finished tied for ninth, shooting an even 72 on the final day to finish -3 in the tournament. On Tuesday, she started on hole 15, and birdied five of her first seven holes, parring 15 and 18. She went five-over through the next three holes, before draining birdies on eight and nine. She started the back nine +3 through the first three holes before a birdie on 13 and par on 14 completed her round. She finished third in the tournament with 17 birdies after holing eight in the final round. The three-round total of 213 tied her career low set in September.
"Bianca had a good round but crazy," Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. "She made eight birdies and shot even. Just and up and down round, but she stayed with it and kept getting her strokes back."
Ciera Min finished tied for 60th with a final round 76. She had just four bogeys on the day but no holes in the red, and finished +11 for the event. Jessica Mangrobang had back-to-back birdies on number four and five, and one on 11, but six bogeys and a double saw her shoot a final round 77 to finish +19 and in a tie for 80th.
Jena Gao finished tied for 89th at +30 after an 83 Tuesday, as she did birdie number two, and Diana Araneta fired an 87 in the last round to come in at +42 and in a tie for 91st.
The Zags finished 18th with a final score of 921, and Stanford ran away with the team victory at -16, nine strokes better than second-place UCLA. Lilia Vu of UCLA and Hannah Kim of Northwestern tied for the individual title at -8 after shooting one-under on Tuesday.
Joining Pagdanganan in the top-10 featured three players in Golfweek's top-10 individual national rankings.
"Finishing in the top-10 in this field is a really good effort," Rickel said. "That should bring her national ranking into the top 100. Not having Nina (Novilla) this event really hurt us and we need to get back to work to improve the little things that hurt us this week."
In nine days the Bulldogs tee off in the 2017 West Coast Conference Championships at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah.
