SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team had a solid start to its own Bulldog Invite Friday, picking up three singles victories and two doubles wins inside The Stevens Center in Spokane.

Breanna Bachini. "I'm really proud of our effort; battling back for tiebreaker wins in singles is a testament to our mental toughness. We are looking forward to tomorrow and getting back out on the court."
All three of GU's singles wins came in a tiebreaker. Senior
Domonique Garley started things off with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Idaho's Laura Sparto, while junior
Haruna Tsuruta added a 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 come-from-behind win over Idaho's Maria Tavares. Junior
Katie Day closed singles play for the Bulldogs with a 5-7, 6-0, 10-3 victory over Seattle's Hannah Grossman.
In doubles play, the Bulldogs won each of their matches. Tsuruta and
Kate Ketels teamed up to defeat Montana State's Linnea Fristam and Annie Walker 6-2. Garley and Day also picked up a doubles win for the Zags, advancing to the semifinals of the Bulldog doubles flight with a 6-4 win over Eastern Washington's Zoey Nelson and Stephanie Broussard.
The Zags will continue the Bulldog Invite Saturday, Oct. 6. The first doubles matches will begin at 8 a.m. Live video will once again be available at GoZags.com.
