- GU won the first nine championships starting in 1997.
- Last year was a record setting year for the Bulldogs, where they broke two time school records at the WCC Championships. The varsity four boat record was smashed by 26 seconds with a new time of 7:10.15.
- The WCC Championship performance of 42 points last year tied the best in conference history, as they swept the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four races for the first time since 2008. It tied the second largest margin of victory in program history, with a victory of 42-36 over second-place San Diego and was the seventh time in program history that GU has swept all events.
- Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, and San Diego are the only three schools to win a WCC title. Gonzaga with 16, San Diego with four and Loyola Marymount with one.

- The seven teams competing include GU, USD, and LMU, along with Portland, Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and Creighton, a rowing-only member from Omaha, Neb.
- The Zags defeated USD and Saint Mary's on Lake Natoma in the fall in the Head of the American and Portland in all three boats at the Head of the Lake.
- In the spring against USD in the San Diego Crew Classic and Lake Natoma Invite, GU beat the Torerros in eight of the nine races across the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four boats.
- The Zags have been receiving votes in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll the last three weeks. Their CMAX ranking is 36, the next closest WCC school is LMU at 46.
