Women’s Tennis Signs Transfer Gruber

Junior-to-be Taylor Gruber joins GU from Missouri

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis head coach D.J. Gurule announced the addition of Taylor Gruber, a transfer from Missouri, on Wednesday.

Gruber, a native of Spicewood, Texas, who played two seasons for the Tigers, comes to Gonzaga with solid experience and two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are so excited for Taylor to join the Zag family," Gurule said. "Her experience and work ethic is fantastic, and she is so committed to both tennis and her academics that she will be a perfect fit for our team."

Gruber, who went 16-11 overall in singles, played both singles and doubles for Missouri during the spring season. She put together a 7-6 dual-match record in singles and grabbed nine wins, including a ranked victory, in doubles. She also had significant playing time as a freshman, seeing action as high as No. 2 in singles and No. 1 in doubles in the Tiger lineup.

"I chose Gonzaga because of the great environment provided by [Coaches] DJ and Natalie," Gruber said. "I also fell in love with the beautiful campus and the city. The sky is the limit [at GU], and I can't wait to get started."

Gruber joins a Gonzaga squad that is coming off another strong season under Gurule, including an appearance in the West Coast Conference Championship match.
