Men’s Tennis Downed at No. 5 Baylor

GU will face New Mexico on Sunday

WACO, Texas – Gonzaga men's tennis faced a tough fifth-ranked Baylor squad and went down 4-0 on Saturday in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Waco, Texas.

GU (2-2) battled throughout the match against the Bears (4-0), but ultimately Baylor took control of the match in singles.

"We had opportunities to win a few first sets," head coach Jonas Piibor said. "It was good for our team to play a championship team like Baylor, we have plenty to take away from this match. The guys are very excited for our match versus New Mexico tomorrow."

After falling in the doubles point, GU's Sam Feit and Oliver Andersson initially held leads in the first set of their singles matches. Feit took on No. 59-ranked Matias Soto and was up 5-2 in the first before falling 7-5. Andersson went up 5-4 in the first set of his match on Court 6, and then narrowly lost a tiebreak 7-6(13-11) before his match went unfinished.

The Bears won singles contests on Nos. 2, 3 and 4 to clinch the match overall.
