SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga women's tennis team defeated the Oregon 4-3 Saturday afternoon at home, coming from behind after dropping the doubles point early. The Bulldogs are now 3-0 in match play for the first time since 2017.

D.J. Gurule said. "Our energy from the top to bottom was crucial to our success."

Gonzaga (3-0) dropped the doubles point early as the Ducks secured a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles followed by a 6-4 victory at No. 2.
Hannah Jones and Haruna Tsruta defeated Allison Mulville and Madisen Olsen 6-2 at No. 3 for the Zags' lone doubles win.

"We talked to the team after doubles; we were confident in our preparations and training," Gurule said. "They trusted their training and just battled for every point. I think that was the difference maker."

In singles, Tsuruta was the first to finish for the Zags, defeating Ares Teixido Garcia 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.
Taylor Gruber finished second on court six with a score of 6-2, 6-2, and Adrianna Sosnowksa secured her win close after at 6-4, 6-2 to give Gonzaga a 3-1 edge in the match. Oregon (0-1) tied the match at 3-3 after securing wins at Nos. 1 and 5, but
Cate Broerman was able to clinch the match win for the Zags. Broerman defeated Oregon's Riftanty Kahfiani 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 to seal the 4-3 come-from-behind victory.

"Today was such a big team win," Gurule said. "I was so impressed with our energy and focus during singles play. It was a great response from dropping the doubles point."

Gonzaga's next match is Feb. 5th in Tucson, Ariz., where the Zags will play four matches in three days against Northern Arizona, Dixie State and Arizona, starting with Dixie State next Friday at 9 a.m. Check GoZags.com for up-to-date match information.
