THE TIP OFF
- Gonzaga welcomes Alcorn State for a Monday night matchup inside the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Zags won the only other previous meeting, 77-67, in Birmingham, Ala., in 1992.
- The Bulldogs are coming off an 86-74 win over No. 5/5 Texas Saturday. GU was dominant in the first-ever Top-5 matchup in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Zags led by as many as 22 points and had a 20-point advantage at halftime.
Drew Timme scored a career-high 37 points on 15-of-19 shooting from the field.
- The Zags own the country's longest home win streak with 53 consecutive victories inside the McCarthey Athletic Center, breaking the previous program record of 50 set from 2003 to 2007.
- The Zags are No. 1 in the Associated Press preseason poll entering the season. It's the second-ever No. 1 preseason ranking in program history, but also the second straight season GU achieved the honor.
- For the first time in program history, Gonzaga was ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Coaches' preseason poll.
- In the season-opening win over Dixie State,
Chet Holmgren had 14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and seven blocks. Per ESPN Stats and Info, Holmgren was the first player over the last 25 seasons with 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocked shots in his Div. 1 debut.

- Last season, the Zags advanced to the national championship game following a 31-0 start to the season. Gonzaga won the league regular season title for a national-best ninth straight season. The Bulldogs became the first team in NCAA Div. 1 history to reach 30 wins in five straight seasons.
- Gonzaga returns two starters and nine letterwinners from last season's squad that claimed the Zags' ninth consecutive West Coast Conference regular season title.
- In 2020-21, the Bulldogs advanced to their 21st straight NCAA Tournament, and sixth consecutive Sweet 16.
- Gonzaga won 31 games last season, including 15-0 in West Coast Conference play. It was the fifth straight 30-win season, seventh in the last eight seasons and eighth in the last 10 seasons.
SCOUTING THE BRAVES
- Alcorn State, located in Lorman, Miss., has lost its first three games of the season.
- The Braves fell at fellow West Coast Conference member Portland Saturday night, 62-58. Byron Joshua led Alcorn State with 20 points. Dominic Brewton had 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
- Joshua leads the Braves averaging a team-best 12 points through the first three games. He's dished out a team-high nine assists as well.
- Alcorn State was picked seventh in the league's 12-member preseason poll.

- Gonzaga is 5-0 on Nov. 15 since joining Div. 1 in 1958-59.
- The last game on this date was a 79-49 Zag victory at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, in 2019. GU also beat Texas A&M on Nov. 15 in 2018, 94-71.
- GU also owns a 78-69 win over Baylor on Nov. 15, 2006.

Drew Timme had a career-high 37 points to go with seven rebounds in the Bulldogs' 86-74 win over No. 5 Texas.
- He was a blistering 15-19 from the floor, and grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists as well.
- He had 22 points in the first half, a career-high half output.
- Per ESPN Stats and Info, Timme is the first Gonzaga player with 30 points against an AP top-5 team since Adam Morrison at No. 4 Memphis on Dec. 27, 2005.
- Prior to Saturday, no player had made more than 10 two-pointers in a game against a Chris Beard coached Div.-1 team. Timme finished with 15 makes inside-the-arc.
- His 37 points were the third-most scored in a game inside the McCarthey Athletic Center, behind Adam Morrison's 42 points in 2006 and Rony Turiaf's 40 in 2004.
- Timme's 15 made field goals is a new McCarthey Athletic Center record.
BIG STAGE IN THE KENNEL
- Gonzaga's game against No. 5/5 Texas was the highest-ranked matchup hosted by GU in program history.
- The previous highest-ranked foe to play Gonzaga at home was No. 6 Washington State in 2007, with the Cougars prevailing 51-48.
- GU beat No. 8 Washington, 97-77, inside the McCarthey Athletic Center in 2006.
- The only other Top-10 ranked team to play the Zags at Gonzaga was No. 7 DePaul in 1981. DePaul left Spokane with a 69-56.
- Prior to Texas, the last AP-ranked team to play at GU was 25th-ranked Creighton in 2017. It was also the last ranked matchup inside the Kennel with the Bulldogs beating Creighton, 91-74.
