Gonzaga Inks Will Thorsett to NLI

Zags welcome Thorsett for the 2021-22 season

SPOKANE, Wash. – Director of Gonzaga Cross country and Track and Field Pat Tyson announced the signing of Will Thorsett Tuesday.

"Will becomes the second Sisters Outlaw to run for the Zags," Tyson said. "Present Gonzaga 800-meter school record holder and volunteer assistant Brandon Pollard being the first. Will comes in with great credentials and will develop into a very competitive Division 1 distance runner. I'm really glad to have him join the very good recruiting class of 2021."

Thorsett will join the Zags in 2021-22 as a freshman after a standout career at Sisters High School. He placed third at the 2019 Oregon State Class 4A Championships with a personal record of 16:00.1 on the 5,000-meter course.

On the track, Thorsett has a personal record of 9:09.11 in the 3,000 meters. He ran that time at the 2019 state championships, placing ninth.

"Gonzaga's academic and athletic distinction attracted me to the university," Thorsett said. "I also chose Gonzaga because of Coach Tyson's involvement in my college decision process as well as the atmosphere and culture that he has formed. I am planning to major in engineering, and am looking forward to being a Zag for the next stage of my running career."
