WTEN: Zags Perform in Day Two of the Cal Fall Invitational

Broerman and Wernli will play singles tomorrow

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team continued their participation in the Cal Fall Invitational earlier today. The Zags looked to build upon their excellent start to the tournament yesterday, when they went 5-2 in their matches.

Opening up the day with the doubles competition, Stanford's Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova earned an 8-3 win over Gonzaga's Catherine Broerman and Adrianna Sosnowska.

Transitioning to the singles competition, UC Berkeley's Valentina Ivanov defeated Broerman 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets.

Sosnowska earned a comeback victory against San Jose State University's Carolina Millan 6-4, 7-6, 10-6 in her first singles match of the day. In her second match, Santa Clara University's Jenna Gordon clinched a 6-3, 6-2 win against Sosnowska.

Gonzaga's Caroline Wernli claimed a 6-4, 6-3 victory over rival Brigham Young University's Xenia De Luna in straight sets. In the finals singles match of the day for the Zags, UC Davis's Kaia Wolfe defeated Wernli by the score of 6-3, 6-3.
