CALIFORNIA -- The Gonzaga women's tennis team continued their participation in the USC Hidden Duel and the Long Beach State tournament.
At the USC Hidden Duel tournament, Gonzaga faced both USC and UCSB in the double competition. Playing against UCSB's Marta Gonzalez Ballbe and Kira Reuter, Gonzaga's Caroline Wernli and Tiegan Aitken lost their doubles match by a score of 6-3. Gonzaga's Cate Broerman and Jenna Sloan battled, but dropped their match against USC's Isabelle Lee and McKenna Koenig 6-3.
In the singles competition, Gonzalez earned another victory, as she defeated Aitken 6-4, 6-1 on court three. Shortly after, UCSB's Calissa Dellabarca earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sloan on court two.
The final two singles matches for the Zags were the most competitive of the day. In spot No.1, Broerman fought, but lost her match against Reuter by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 10-5. Finally, Lee clinched a 7-6, 7-6 court four victory over Wernli to close out today's action for the Zags at the USC Hidden Duel.
At the Long Beach State tournament, Frampton advanced in the singles consolation bracket due to another player pulling out of the competition. Oda continued in the winners side of the bracket, but fell 6-4, 6-2, to Zoe Olmos from CSUF. In doubles, Frampton teamed up with a player from CSUN and won the consolation side of the bracket with a 6-2 win today.
