GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Gonzaga men's golf is through two rounds of their first tournament of the spring at the Loyola Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola Maryland. The Bulldogs entered the day in a tie for 13th, but after shooting ten-over (298) in Monday's second round they are in 15th place heading into the final round on Tuesday. GU is currently 16-over par (592) and has combined to make 100 pars and 29 birdies through two rounds.
Charlie Magruder and Zach Stocker continued to move in tandem on the individual leaderboard as they each sit in a tie for 42nd place at two-over par (146). After matching scores of even-par (72) in the first round, the two once again turned in the same score, this time shooting two-over (74). Magruder scattered 13 pars and two birdies on his scorecard, while Stocker made 12 and two. Stocker's round included a stretch of eight holes on the front nine in which he sank seven pars and one of his two birdies. The sophomore is tied for the fifth-most pars at 24 and has totaled five birdies along the way.
Jace Minni rose 12 spots into a tie for 61st on the individual leaderboard on Monday. After shooting two-over (74) in his second round, he will enter the final round on Tuesday at five-over (149).
Matthew Ruel shot four-over (76) in Round 2, matching his score his from Round 1. The redshirt junior enters the third round in a tie for 84th at eight-over (152). Andrew Reinhardt is in a tie for 101st at 13-over after shooting ten-over (82) in the second round.
Middle Tennessee State's Kevin Jegers (-9, 135) holds a one stroke lead over Delaware's Roberto Nieves (-8, 136) on the individual leaderboard. On the team leaderboard, a strong second round from Middle Tennessee State (-18, 558) propelled them into a four-stroke lead over Utah Valley (-14, 562) heading into Tuesday's final round.
