CORVALLIS, Ore.– The Gonzaga men's golf team tied for eighth at the Oregon State Invitational at the Trysting Tree Golf Course Tuesday.
The Zags were 30-over (882) in the 54-hole event. GU opened the tournament with a team total 287 (+3) in Round 1, before a 293 (+9) in the second round, and a 302 (+18) Tuesday. The Bulldogs made 28 birdies as a team, with 171 pars.
Guillermo Polo Bodart led Gonzaga with a 19
th place finish. He was six-over (219) in the tournament. The sophomore made 39 pars over the 54 holes and had the second-best Par-3 average in the 88-golfer field at 2.92 (-1). He played a bogey-free first round with a birdie and 17 pars, carding a 70 (-1). Bodart was even (71) in the second round, before a 77 (+6) in Round 3.
Daniel Nunez tied for 27
th at eight-over (221). He also opened the tournament with a 70 (-1) and was five-over (76) in Round 2, and four-over (+4) in Round 3. The Los Angeles native was two-under (4.78) on the course's Par-5 holes.
Bruce Chang finished 10-over (223) in a tie for 42
nd. He was one-over (3.08) on the Par-3 holes in the event. The freshman carded a 71 (E) in the second round and a 73 (+2) in the final round.
Playing as an individual,
Andrew Reinhardt tied for 54
th at 12-over (225). He was even-par (71) in Round 1, with three birdies and 12 pars.
Jace Minni and
Ethan Flynn were 13-over (226) and 16-over (229) in the tournament. Minni tied for 60
th, while Flynn finished 78
th.
Arizona State's Nicholas Prieto took medalist honors as an individual at four-under (209). Jackson Lake of Oregon State was second at three-under (210). 51
st-ranked Oregon State won the tournament as hosts, finishing three-over (855). Washington State was second at nine-over (861).
Gonzaga wraps up its Fall schedule at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic at the Royal Ka'anapal course in Lahaina, Hawaii, Oct. 26-28. Live scoring of the 54-hole three-day event will be available on GoZags.com.
