SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Gonzaga men's soccer earned a 1-1 draw at UC San Diego Thursday. The tie keeps the Zags unbeaten (2-0-1) through their first three matches of the season.
Stefano Campisi kept his hot start to the season going finding the back of the net for the third time through three games. Along with his two assists, he has a team-high eight points for GU.
After a scoreless first half, the Tritons' (0-2-1) Inaki Iribarren scored off an assist from Carter Jacobus just a minute into the second half.
In the 62
nd minute, Campisi rebounded in a deflection off a save from the UCSD keeper.
The Bulldogs outshot UC San Diego 15-13, with a 6-3 edge in shots on frame. Gonzaga also took eight of the match's 12 corner kicks. The Tritons controlled 54 percent of the possession.
The Zags forced UCSD's Mitchell Wilson into five saves, while Stuart Herringer had two saves for GU.
The Bulldogs remain in Southern California for a matchup with UC Irvine (2-0-1) Sunday at 6 p.m.
