SPOKANE, Wash. – Earlier this afternoon, the Gonzaga men's tennis team continued their nonconference schedule by earning a dominant 6-1 victory over the University of Idaho. Today's match marks the eighth consecutive victory for the Zags over the Vandals, a streak dating back to the 2015-16 season.

Opening with a competitive doubles competition, Idaho's Alex Asenov and Sebastian Medica earned a 6-2 court three win over Gonzaga's Gus Krauel and Tom Dunlop. Gonzaga tied the doubles competition on court two, as Leon Roider and Pablo Gomez Galvan defeated Idaho's Mario Duron and Matteo Masala by a score of 6-2. In the No.1 spot, Gonzaga's Matthew Hollingworth and Sasha Trkulja clinched the doubles point, defeating Idaho's Yu-Shun Lai and Taiyo Kurata by a score of 7-6.

Transitioning to the singles competition, Hollingworth continued his excellent season by picking up a 6-0, 6-1 court two victory against Medica. Idaho bounced back on court five, as Duron claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win over Dunlop. In the No.3 spot, Roider earned a crucial 6-3, 6-3 win against Lai.

Gonzaga clinched the team victory on court one, as Trkulja cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Kurata. Shortly after, Gomez Galvan picked up a 5-7, 6-0, 10-6 comeback win against Masala in the No.4 spot. In the final match of the day, Gonzaga's Oscar Rashed clinched a gritty 6-2, 6-7, 10-6 win over Idaho's Alejandro Salvador.

Up next: The Gonzaga men's tennis team will travel to Nebraska following today's win, as they are scheduled to play the University of Nebraska-Omaha on February 10th and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on February 11th.
