LEWISTON, Idaho – Gonzaga men's and women's cross country competed in their 13th consecutive Inland Empire Classic on Saturday on the LC State Cross Country Trail. The Zag women placed fifth as a team to open the meet before the GU men wrapped the day with a second-place team finish.
In the women's 5K,
Ireland Robertson was leader for the Bulldogs, placing 11th with a time of 17:32.0. Behind her were
Camille Broadbent (22nd, 17:46.0),
Jasmine Nguyen (24th, 17:48.0),
Anika Jones (30th, 18:02.0), and
Olivia Ferraro (35th, 18:11.0) to round out the point-scoring for Gonzaga.
Boise State was the meet winner, securing 31 points while sweeping the podium on the individual leaderboard. Idaho placed second with 59 points, Eastern Washington placed third with 69 points, and Washington State placed fourth with 111 points ahead of Gonzaga's 115.
In the men's 8K race,
Caleb Richardson placed 13th in 24:36.0 to lead the Zags in a second-place team finish. Right behind Richardson was
Brenden Charbeneau, who placed 14th with a time of 24:38.0.
Sean Janecko finished 18th in 24:48.0,
Luke Alfonso finished 25th in 24:58.0, and
Nicky DiMartino finished 30th in 25:08.0 to collect Gonzaga's 72 team points.
Eastern Washington was the team champion, scoring 38 points behind four top ten finishes. GU placed second, Idaho placed third with 84 and Idaho State placed fourth with 92.

The Zags will have one final regular season meet on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Sasquatch Invite. Hosted by the Community Colleges of Spokane, the meet will take place at the Spokane Polo Grounds.
