SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga cross country concluded their 2024 regular season on Friday at the Sasquatch Invite with a pair of team titles, led by Ireland Robertson and Sean Janecko. The Zags will now look ahead to the postseason, first with the West Coast Conference Championships on Nov. 2 in Lodi, Calif.
 
In the women's 5K race, Robertson led the whole way before setting a new Spokane Polo Club course record. The senior finished in 17:57.4 ahead of Jasmine Nguyen, who placed second in 18:18.9. The Bulldogs scored 20 points to win their fifth Sasquatch title since 2018.
 
The final three point-scorers for GU were Anika Jones in fourth (18:43.4), Olivia Ferraro in sixth (18:59.0), and Tawny Smith in seventh (19:00.7). The Polo Club course ran much faster on Friday under sunny conditions in comparison to 2023, where it snowed prior to the afternoon races.
 
The Gonzaga men capped off the program sweep with a team title of their own, led by Sean Janecko in fourth place (24:42.6). The Zags placed four runners in a row including Janecko, as Brenden Charbeneau (24:45.4), Caleb Richardson (24:52.0), and Will Thorsett (24:59.6) followed suit behind the redshirt sophomore. Luke Alfonso cracked the top ten as the Bulldogs' fifth man, finishing tenth in 25:31.8.
 
The GU men scored 21 team points to defeat Eastern Oregon (42 team points), who currently ranks tenth in the NAIA National Rankings.

The West Coast Conference Championships will take place at Micke Grove Golf Links in Lodi, Calif., which is just 20 minutes North of Stockton. The women's 6K race will kick off at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 11 a.m., with streaming coverage available on ESPN+.
