SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's soccer's
Chelsea Le was named a 2024 West Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year the announced Wednesday.
Le,
Paige Alexander, and
Marissa Garcia all earned Second Team All-WCC honors, while
Amelia Severn and
Emelia Warta were tabbed honorable mention. Severn was also named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
Le earned second team honors for the second straight season after matching a team-high six goals this season. She topped the WCC with three game winning goals during league play, was third with five goals in conference action, and fifth with 12 points. The senior started in 36 of her 37 career appearances.
Alexander and Le were tied for third in the West Coast Conference with five goals during league play. Alexander also finished the season with six goals overall. She was sixth with 18 points. The Salem, Ore., native, finished her collegiate career with 12 goals, nine assists, and 33 points.
Garcia is fifth in program history with 22 career goals. Her 57 career points rank fifth all-time as well. The senior is sixth with 12 career assists and seventh with 160 shots. She was eighth in the WCC in shots (48), shots on goal (21), and assists (5).
Severn led the league with seven assists in 2024, while Warta was right behind with six. In her sophomore season, Warta was fifth in the WCC with 53 shots and 27 shots on goal. Severn and Warta paced the conference with five assists each in league play.
Gonzaga placed third in the final West Coast Conference standings, winning its last three contests. The Zags ended the regular season winning five out of their last six. GU was unbeaten in six of its last seven, with the lone loss at then-ranked No. 10 Santa Clara, 2-1.
The Bulldogs clinched their seventh 10-win season over the last eight seasons, with the exception being seven wins in the Spring 2020 shortened season. Prior to the last eight seasons, GU had five 10-win seasons in the program's history.
