SPOKANE, Wash. – In their first of six indoor meets at The Podium this season, Gonzaga men's and women's track raced all day on Saturday while collecting three event wins and five new program top ten times.
Gréta Dani made her collegiate debut late Saturday morning in the women's 60-meter prelims, running an 8.35 to comfortably win her heat and notch the fourth-fastest time in GU history.
Alexis Knight placed seventh (8.15) in the fastest preliminary heat, just four hundredths of a second off of her PR.
In the men's Mile,
Jacob Alfonso and
Cooper Laird finished first and second overall. After holding steady in top three for the first 1200-meters, Alfonso pulled away in the final two laps to win by nearly two seconds and earn a four-second PR. Laird also improved his personal best, finishing in 4:10.56.
Presley Smith was the second Bulldog to record a program top ten time in her collegiate debut on Saturday. In the women's 300-meter event, the Pasco native ran a 44.88, marking the second-fastest 300m time in Gonzaga history.
In the women's 600-meter, the Bulldogs nearly were a perfect 3-for-3 with PRs and top ten times.
Ellie Armbruster (1:33.89) won her heat by three seconds and just missed improving her program-record time, placing second overall.
Emma Larson improved her personal best, placing eighth overall with a time of 1:39.15 that ranks fourth all-time at GU. Then,
Ashlinn Aguayo jumped into No. 7 all-time with a new PR time of 1:41.23.
Dani returned to the track for the women's 200-meters, dropping the fifth-fastest time (27.21) in GU indoor history to complete a perfect 2-for-2 collegiate debut.
The 3000-meters featured 18 total attached Gonzaga runners on Saturday, as GU swept the individual wins. First,
Anna Grabowski led the Zag women with a 9:41.15 PR while seven others followed in the top ten. Then,
Logan Law took the win for the men in 8:14.21 while
Mason Kissell,
Brenden Charbeneau,
Luke Alfonso, and
Jonah Donde finished in the top ten to wrap Gonzaga's opening meet at The Podium.

Gonzaga will take a month-long break from racing, returning to the rubber Jan. 17-18 in one of their busiest weekends of the indoor season. The Spokane Indoor Challenge and Spokane Sports Showcase will run concurrently at The Podium, while some of the Zag men will trek to Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility for the UW Preview and Mile City events.
