Women's Basketball Adds Vera Gunaydin

Gunaydin will have two years of eligibility

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's basketball head coach Lisa Fortier announced the addition of Vera Gunaydin. Gunaydin, a 5-9 guard, will join the Zags in fall 2024 as a junior from South Georgia Tech College.

Vera Gunaydin
5'9 | Guard | Junior | Ankara, Turkey | South Georgia Tech College
Gunaydin started in 32 games for South Georgia Tech College and averaged over 13 points per game while shooting over 42% from the floor. She was one of only three players to be averaging in double-digits from the team. She had the highest three-point shooting percentage for the Lady Jets hitting 33% of her attempted shots. She was also the second leading rebounder for the team averaging 5.2 per game.

During the season, she was named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week following SGTC's wins over Snow College and St. Petersburg College.

Fortier on Gunaydin: We were immediately drawn to Vera because of her ability to shoot the ball from distance and her commitment to being one of the hardest workers everywhere she's been. She's been pushed to expand her game and play different positions, and has thrived in each situation. She is excited to be a Zag and we are excited to coach her!
