SPOKANE, Wash. – Returning to the indoor oval after a month-long break and for the first time in 2025, Gonzaga women's track raced all afternoon at The Podium in the Spokane Sports Showcase on Friday.
Anna Grabowski took the win in the mile, and
Ellie Armbruster broke her own 400-meter record to headline the Bulldogs' day on the track.
Grabowski quickly pulled ahead in the first heat of the women's mile, eventually earning the win by ten seconds over Eastern Washington's Nattie Ruzauskas. Her time of 4:50.67 was one-tenth of a second off her personal best, a time she set in February 2024.
Sadie Tuckwood (Fourth, 5:00.91),
Tate Beasley (Seventh, 5:13.58),
Anna Lanigan (Eighth, 5:13.78), and Maria Taggi Padró (Ninth, 5:14.86) each finished in the Top Ten on Saturday.
In the 400-meter races, Armbruster took on the fastest heat of the afternoon, finishing in 57.14 to improve her own PR and set the first program record of the 2024-25 season. In the next heat,
Presley Smith made her collegiate 400-meter debut and finished in 1:02.51 to notch the tenth-fastest program time.
In total, Gonzaga earned seven new personal bests in their first meet of 2025.

The Zag men will race next this weekend, splitting up for Washington's Mile City event in Seattle and the Spokane Indoor Challenge at The Podium. Six GU harriers will take on some of the NCAA's best in an exciting mile event at Dempsey Indoor while ten others race locally in Spokane Sports' second event of the weekend.
