STOCKTON, Calif. – Gonzaga men's tennis opened play at the ITA Division I Men's Northwest Regional Championships, hosted by the University of the Pacific, with some matches in the qualifying singles bracket of the tournament.
Diego Herrera fell 6-1, 7-5 in his opening match and then dropped a close 6-1, 2-6, 6-10 battle in his next round. James Hutchinson came up just short in his first contest, 7-6, 7-5, before bouncing back with a decisive 6-2, 6-2 victory in consolation play. Gus Krauel rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win, and Tom Dunlop also earned a comeback victory, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Competition continues Friday in Stockton, Calif., as the Bulldogs look to continue their strong showing at the regional event.
