SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's golf head coach
Brad Rickel announced the signing of Ashlee Xu and Anna Duerr Wednesday.
"We are very excited to welcome Ashlee Xu and Anna Duerr to the Zag Family as our 2026 signing class," Rickel said. "Both signees are talented golfers in addition to being great students and will make great Zags. They both come from great families who are very supportive. Ashlee and Anna understand and appreciate how our program strives to balance golf, academics and service within the community. We are looking for them to make an immediate impact on our team and are excited to watch them grow and learn over their careers here at Gonzaga."
Ashlee Xu
Mountain House, Calif. | Mountain House High School
Xu arrives at Gonzaga as a three-time League Most Valuable Player and three-time CIF Champion, establishing herself as one of the top high school golfers in California's Central Valley region. A three-year varsity letterwinner, she has led Mountain House High School to sustained success while consistently competing among the top individuals in league and postseason competition.
Xu is recognized for her consistency, composure, and competitive maturity on the course. Her ability to score under pressure and lead team performance has been a defining part of her high school career.
In the classroom, Xu has earned Superintendent's Honor Roll and Principal's Honor Roll distinctions while balancing high-level academics and year-round training. She plans to pursue Sports Management and Business at Gonzaga.
"I was immediately drawn to Gonzaga University because of its strong sense of community and its commitment to fostering not only academic success but also personal development. Gonzaga's mission reflects my own values and aspirations, making it a place where I know I can truly thrive."
Anna Duerr
Olympia, Wash. | Capital High School / South Puget Sound CC
Duerr arrives at Gonzaga with a proven competitive resume at the state and regional level. A multi-sport varsity athlete, Duerr holds the Capital High School program record for the lowest 18-hole tournament score and is a three-time First Team All-League selection in the South Sound Conference (2023, 2024, 2025). She also won back-to-back South Sound League Tournament individual titles and was recognized as a WIAA Athlete of the Week.
Duerr has earned success in elite junior events, including:
Team Washington – Girls Junior Americas Cup
Champion – 2025 FCG Washington Championship (Chambers Bay)
Individual Medalist – 2025 Gamble Sands Invitational (69)
Duerr also brings a strong athletic family foundation. Her father, Brian Duerr, played baseball at Oregon State University, and her grandfather, Michael Cavanaugh, played professional baseball for the Minnesota Twins organization.
"It was clear Gonzaga was the school for me as soon as I spent time on campus with the team and the coaches. Everything felt right. Growing up in the PNW, I've always known about Gonzaga, and my visit felt like home away from home. Even my little brother said Gonzaga was his favorite that made the decision even easier."
