SEATTLE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's and women's track returned to Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility on Saturday for their final weekend of the 2024-25 indoor season. The Zags raced in the 800m, mile, and 3000m on day two at the Husky Classic, entering six new times into the program Top Ten lists.
The women's mile was the first event for the Bulldogs on Saturday, with four runners set to compete in three different heats. In an impressive showing, GU recorded four personal best times, with all four qualifying for the program top ten.
Ireland Robertson was first to race, winning the third heat with a time of 4:50.80, the eighth-fastest time in program history. Then in heat seven,
Anna Grabowski (4:46.90) and
Sadie Tuckwood (4:52.79) completed their race with the fifth-fastest and tenth-fastest respective times all time.
Willow Collins raced in the final heat of the mile, breaking the program record and becoming the first Gonzaga woman to record a mile time under 4:40, finishing in 4:38.90.
In the men's mile,
Wil Smith (3:58.87) was .06 seconds off of his program record time, finishing in under four minutes for the fourth time in his collegiate career.
Mason Kissell (4:09.10) finished just shy of a personal best.
In the women's 800-meters,
Ellie Armbruster nearly broke 2:10 but came up just short of her program record PR with a 20th place finish of 2:10.18.
On the men's side,
Hayden Roberts improved his 800m PR by 0.5 seconds with a decisive win in the opening heat, finishing in 1:53.41 to improve his No. 3 ranking on the Gonzaga top ten list.
Rosina Machu was the final Bulldog to race on Saturday, competing in the lone heat of the 3000-meter invite against some of the best distance runners in the country. In just her first 3K of the season and second since 2023, Machu set a new program record with a time of 9:10.87, likely concluding her indoor track career at Gonzaga.
