WBB Falls Short to San Francisco, 70-68

Five seniors were honored for Senior Day

SPOKANE, Wash. – In a game that saw 12 lead changes, the Gonzaga women's basketball team came up just short to San Francisco on Senior Day, 70-68.

Four Zags scored in double figures, led by Yvonne Ejim's 19 points and eight rebounds. Maud Huijbens scored 16, Claire O'Connor had 11 and Allie Turner also scored 10.

The Zags went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter and had the 17-15 lead the end of it. Claire O'Connor came off the bench to lead GU with five points. The Bulldogs put together an 11-0 run midway through the second quarter as Turner and O'Connor went off from beyond the arc to extend Gonzaga's lead.

Going into halftime, GU led 34-25. Ejim and Turner both had nine points for the Zags as O'Connor also had eight. Tayla Dalton led the Bulldogs with five rebounds and GU outrebounded USF 24-21 in the first half.

At the end of the third quarter, Gonzaga led 53-52. Huijbens went off in the third and scored 11 points after going 5-for-5 from the field.

O'Connor tied the game with a clutch three-pointer with just over four minutes remaining, 59-59. Gonzaga regained the lead after a forced turnover from San Francisco followed by a bucket from Ejim.

San Francisco responded with a three-pointer to take a one-point lead with a minute and a half left. Gonzaga fought back with Bree Salenbien drawing two free throws to bring the Zags within one point with eight seconds remaining.

After stopping the clock with a foul on USF with seven seconds left, GU's game-winning shot came up just short.

Notes
- With 19 points today, Ejim has scored double digits in 71-straight games.

- With three threes today, Turner is now sixth in 3-point field goals made in a single season with 84.
