The Gonzaga women's rowing team is set to compete in two races this weekend as the Zags take on Seattle on Friday, April 18, and Washington State on Saturday, April 19. Both races will take place at Silver Lake.
On Friday, the Bulldogs will race Seattle at 3:30 p.m. Races will begin at 9 a.m. versus Washington State on Saturday. All information for the races, including spectator maps and live results, can be found here:

GU and WSU were supposed to race last weekend, but the race had to be postponed to this weekend. Gonzaga has won three of the 32 Fawley Cups versus Washington State. The last win for Gonzaga was in 2015-16.Â

LAST DUAL RACE VS SEATTLE - APRIL 2024
The Gonzaga women's rowing team swept Seattle University on its final home race at Silver Lake as all races ended with a Gonzaga boat in first place.
In the first race of the day, Gonzaga's IV Eight boat finished first with a time of 7:19.14, ahead of Seattle's 1V8 boat of 7:34.31. The Zags took command of the race from early on and maintained their lead throughout the entire race.
The second race of the day featured two GU boats including the A and B Four boats. The A Four crew took first place by a wide margin of 8:32.21, followed by the B Four crew of 8:48.75. Seattle's 1V4 finished in third, coming in at 9:11.61.
The Bulldogs also had lead the whole race in the third competition of the day as GU's V8 boat finished in 7:26.23, ahead of Seattle's 2V8 boat of 7:46.76.
The last race of the day was a competition between three Zag boats, composed of sophomores, juniors and seniors. The seniors finished first with a time of 6:49.35, with the sophomores right behind them at 6:57.13. The juniors took third with a time of 7:02.15.
LAST DUAL RACE VS WASHINGTON STATE - APRIL 2024
The Gonzaga women's rowing team competed at Washington State on Friday afternoon and won five of the six races against the Cougars.
The highlight of the day was the Second Varsity Eight boat that held onto their lead late into the race despite a last minute push from Washington State. The Zags finished ahead of WSU with a time of 6:46.12 compared to Washington State's 6:52.59.
Despite a close race, the Varsity Eight boat came up just short against WSU with a second-place finish time of 6:37.28, just behind the Cougar's finish of 6:33.24. With a strong finish in the first 1,000 meters, Gonzaga held on to the lead until Washington State made a last second push to take the win.Â
Gonzaga's fourth varsity eight boat finished in a time of 7:37.70 ahead of the Cougar's time of 7:54.00. The Zags made a strong finish at the end of the race as they led WSU by about three boat length's to win the race.
In the third varsity eight boat race, the Zags won with a time of 7:03.98 and had a solid lead over WSU who finished in 7:19.17. The Bulldogs made a big push at the 1,000 meter mark to push ahead their lead.
In the 1V4 race, the Bulldogs held onto the lead for the whole race to finish with a dominant time of 7:36.62 over WSU's time of 7:55.59.  After 1,000 meters Gonzaga held a one boat's length lead over the Cougars, but stretched to a two boat's lengths lead with roughly 500 meters to go to secure the win.Â
The 2V4 boat also won their race as the crew finished in 7:53.0, ahead of WSU's 8:04.74 time. Despite a late push by WSU, Gonzaga held onto its lead as it took control around the 1,000 meter mark.Â
