BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Gonzaga women's track concluded the week of racing at the NCAA West Preliminaries at E.B. Cushing Stadium, as
Jessica Frydenlund and
Willow Collins ran in each of their second events of the meet.
Frydenlund, the only 10,000-meter and Steeplechase double qualifier in the West Prelims, led off for the Zag women on Saturday. In the third and final heat of the quarterfinal round, Frydenlund placed 11th in 10:25.64, marking a 29th overall finish.
After making her 1500-meter prelims debut on Thursday, Collins returned for her second career 5000-meter semifinals on Saturday, hoping to become the third Bulldog to punch a ticket to Eugene. In the second heat, she placed 16th (29th overall) in 16:29.32, falling shy of a qualifying mark to the NCAA Championships.
Despite not punching any tickets on Saturday, the Gonzaga women will send two athletes to a National Final for the first time in program history, as
Rosina Machu and
