Indianapolis, In.- Gonzaga Volleyball swept the IU Indy Jaguars in their first ever meeting, making up for earlier in the day when they fell to the NIU Huskies in a game that went four sets and needed extra points to finish.
The Zags won the first set against the Huskies in a dominant 25-11 margin before faltering in the next sets before the loss. The key difference in the contest came in aces, as the Huskies had 11 perfect serves while the Zags only scored two.
Despite having a better overall attack percentage on the game, NIU ultimately had more attacks and kills en route to their victory, being led by a game high 20 kills from Emma McCartney. Fallon Thompson with five total blocks, two of which were solo blocks. The Zags had three service errors in the final in the final seven points of the game, providing NIU the opening to close out the first game of the IU Indy Hampton Inn Invitational.
 The Bulldogs redeemed themselves by easily defeating the Jaguars on their homecourt in "The Jungle" in the night game. GU fixed those same service discrepancies, serving up six aces, with Autumn Larson serving a game high three. Sjakkie Donkers took over in the second set, scoring four consecutive kills to help the Zags jump out to an advantage that proved insurmountable.
The Zags went on a 7-0 run in the third set to close out the game and ice a win in their first ever series in Indianapolis. Dani Johnson was a key part of the defensive efforts, leading the game with five blocks. Donkers led the game with 15 kills on a .357 hitting percentage. The Zags to take home a second win from Indianapolis when they take on the Bellarmine Knights tomorrow. The game will be played at 9 am pacific time and will be streaming on ESPN+
