Zags aim for 13th straight win Wednesday

THE OPENING TIP
- Gonzaga plays for its 13th straight win when it hosts Pepperdine Wednesday at 6 p.m. It will be the 102nd all-time meeting between the Zags and Waves. GU has won 50 straight against Pepperdine, dating to 2002.
- The Zags won the first matchup this season, 96-56, in Malibu on Dec. 28. Tyon Grant-Foster had 18 points and four blocks, and Braeden Smith and Davis Fogle scored 15 points apiece.
- In it's last game, Mario Saint-Supery came off the bench to score a career-high 20 points and Gonzaga overcame the absence of its top two scorers to beat Seattle University 71-50 on Saturday. Jalen Warley added 14 points, and David Fogle had 13. Saint-Supery was 7 of 10 from the field, hitting 4 of 6 3-pointers. The Zags had 14 second-chance points off of 13 offensive rebounds. Ismaila Diagne pulled down eight rebounds.
- Gonzaga is one win from its 29th straight 20-win season. The Bulldogs' 28-straight 20-win seasons rank second for the longest active run in the country. (Kansas 37)
- The Zags have had at least 10 wins in-a-row in 17 seasons under Few, but this is the first since 2022-23.
- GU's 19-1 start matches the fifth-best start in program history, and was 5-0 in WCC play for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons. The Zags' nine straight road wins matches the second-longest streak in the nation.
- Gonzaga is one of four teams in the nation with both its offense (8th) and defense (9th) in KenPom's Top 10.
- The Zags' 29 kill shots, which are 10-0 scoring runs, are the most in the country. According to Evan Miyakawa, Gonzaga's four runs of 20+ this season is the most in the nation (Purdue has 3). The Zags' have nine runs of 15+, which also tops the country, with the next closest team being Houston with six.
- The Zags currently lead the WCC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.82, 10th in NCAA), assists (19.4, 8th), bench points (37.3, 8th), effective field goal percentage (.577, 21st), fast-break points (15.0), field goal percentage (52.2, 4th), field goal percentage defense (39.0, 13th), defensive rebounds per game (30.0, 5th), rebounds (42.95, 7th), scoring margin (23.3, 3rd), scoring offense (90.2, 14th), steals (9.1), three-point percentage defense (29.6), turnover margin (4.4, 15th), and turnovers (10.7). GU tops the nation in points in the paint averaging 48.2 per game, and has made 238 more twos than its opponents (Arizona second at 154).
- Ike is fifth in the nation, and first in the WCC, with 11 double-doubles this season. Braeden Smith tops the WCC, and is 20th in the nation, with a 3.38 assist-to-turnover ratio.

SCOUTING THE WAVES
- Pepperdine is coming off a 67-63 home win over Portland on Jan. 14. Aaron Clark led all scorers with 18 points, while grabbing eight rebounds. Styles Phipps added 16 points and four steals. Yonathan Levy had 11 points for the Waves. The game featured seven lead changes and eight ties.
- Four Pepperdine players average double-digit scoring led by Phipps's 12.5 points per game. Clark and Javon Cooley both chip in 12.3 points. Danilo Dozic scores 10.9 points per contest.
- Phipps adds a team-best 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per outing.

- This is the 102nd all-time meeting between Gonzaga and Pepperdine. The Zags have a 70-31 advantage in the series.
- GU has won 50 straight versus the Waves, with the last Pepperdine victory in the series coming on Jan. 18, 2002, 88-79, in Malibu.
- It ranks as the second-longest streak versus an opponent in Div. 1 history, and currently the longest active.
- The Bulldogs are 54-2 against the Waves under Few.
- In the first meeting this season in Malibu, Tyon Grant-Foster had 18 points and four blocks, and Braeden Smith and Davis Fogle scored 15 points apiece to lead No. 7 Gonzaga to a 96-56 win over Pepperdine. Braden Huff had 10 points and Graham Ike had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- In last season's game at GU, the Zags cruised to a 107-55 win in Spokane on Feb. 15. Khalif Battle led all scorers with 24 points, while Graham Ike pulled down nine rebounds. Emmanuel Innocenti had three steals.
- Gonzaga has a 35-12 advantage in the meetings in Spokane, winning 25 in-a-row against Pepperdine in Spokane. The last time the Waves won at GU was on Feb. 19, 1998, 65-64.
- GU has won 23 in-a-row inside the Firestone Fieldhouse and is 28-17 all-time in the meetings in Malibu.
- Gonzaga won the first-ever meeting, 93-70, in the Knights of Columbus Tournament in Portland, on Dec. 11, 1964.

The game was tied at 38 at halftime, before GU opened the second half on a 20-8 run.
- In last season's meeting in San Francisco, Gonzaga rolled to a 95-75 win in the Chase Center. The Bulldogs led for 37 minutes and had four double-digit scorers. Graham Ike finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Braden Huff added nine points. GU shot 57.6 percent from the field.
- GU is 28-18 all-time at San Francisco. The Bulldogs have won the last 13 matchups at USF.
- The Bulldogs and Dons have met in the WCC semifinals in five of the last seven tournaments, including the last three. GU has won seven of the eight all-time meetings in the West Coast Conference Tournament.
- San Francisco edged GU, 64-62, in the first-ever meeting at USF on Jan. 28, 1961.

ANOTHER UNBEATEN WCC START
- Gonzaga is 7-0 to open conference play for the first time since starting 13-0 in 2021-22.
- This is the 14th time the Zags have started 7-0 in WCC play under Mark Few.
- The Bulldogs were 5-0 in WCC play for the 11th time out of the last 12 seasons.
- With the exception of the 2022-23 season's 2-1 start to league play, GU has opened 5-0 in WCC play in each season since 2014-15.
 
BULLDOGS OFF TO GREAT START
- Gonzaga is off to its best start to a season since 2020-21, when the Zags won every game (31-0) until the national championship loss to Baylor.
- This is also the fifth-best start in program history.
- Previously, the Bulldogs have opened conference play with no losses or one loss in non-league action only six times.
 
NO IKE NO HUFF, NO PROBLEM
- With the absence of Braden Huff and Graham Ike due to injuries, the Zags still rolled to a 71-50 win at Seattle in Climate Pledge Arena on Jan. 18.
- Huff and Ike combined to average 35.9 points as Gonzaga's top two scorers, and totaled 52 points in the first matchup of the season in Spokane on Jan. 2, an 80-72 Bulldog win.
- The Redhawks led for nearly 35 minutes, and by 13 twice in the second half, in the first meeting on Jan. 2.
- GU led for nearly 35 minutes in the rematch in Seattle.
- In the Spokane game, SU had 41-40 edge in rebounds, with 15 offensive rebounds, and 12 made threes. In the game in Seattle, the Zags outrebounded the Redhawks, 44-24, and Seattle had only six offensive boards, and made only five of its 21 three-pointers.
- Mario Saint-Supery scored a career-high 20 points to lead Gonzaga, while Jalen Warley (14), Davis Fogle (13), Tyon Grant-Foster (9), Emmanuel Innocenti combined for 43 points. Ismaila Diagne pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in his first collegiate start.
