NORMAN, Oklahoma- Gonzaga Baseball (2-7) came up on the short end of a game against Oklahoma (10-1) again on Saturday, with the Sooners winning a run rule shorted game 11-1.
Oklahoma held GU to just one hit on the day, with starter LJ Mercurius pitching all seven innings. OU had 15 hits in the contest.
The Zags opened the scoring in the second with Ryder Young coming around for the first run of the game before Oklahoma blew the game open with six runs in the fourth inning. Young had the only hit for Gonzaga in the game. Oklahoma has now scored six runs in an inning in both games of the series. A hit batter and five hits, including a home run, compounded to give the Sooners a lead the proved insurmountable.
Gonzaga gave up runs in the sixth and seventh innings to get the game to a run rule ending, with Oklahoma putting up five more hits and three additional runs in the seventh to bring the game to an early end.
The final matchup with Oklahoma will take place on Sunday at 11 am pacific time and will be available to watch on SEC Network+.
