OMAHA, Nebraska- Gonzaga Baseball (4-9) came up on the wrong side of a one run game in Omaha again, dropping Sunday's game against Creighton (5-7) by a score of 7-6.

Gonzaga opened the scoring thanks to Maddox Haley driving in Ricky Sanchez on a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Creighton responded by scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning, taking advantage of a walk, two hit batters, a wild pitch and a double to jump out to a large early lead. They added to the lead by plating an additional run the following inning.

The Zags cut into the lead in the fifth with a five run inning of their own. The highlight of the inning was a three run home run by Luca DiPaolo down the left field line, his first home run of the year. Creighton scored another run in the bottom of the fifth to jump in front before holding the lead for the rest of the game. The last two relievers for Creighton held Gonzaga scoreless for the final four innings, giving up only three hits and no walks. Jacob Wrubleski led off the ninth inning with a double but was left stranded to end the game.

Every Bulldog starting position player got on base this afternoon, and eight different Zags got a hit in the contest. Finbar O'Brien tossed two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three batters while giving up only one hit.
